Trouble staying connected

I just bought and installed the DWA-552, if i'm surfing the net i've noticed that it will drop me and reconnect me with a new ip periodically, but when i'm on skype in a call it will keep my ip and keeps a steady connection. So right now if i want to watch netflix i have to do it while in conference with someone one or on my ps3. Also i drops my from vent too and shortly after reconnects me. Any solutions? Also all other labtops in house connect to the netgear router with no problems.
