OK my NETGEAR router packed in, so Virgin Media send me out a new D-Link DIR-615.

I set it all up as I was instructed (always using the wizards to save time.) And It works fine - I'm using it right now to post this message.

However, that is because I am currently wired to the router (port 1.) If I remove the ethernet cable, bam...I lose connection. I can see the SSID, and I am 'connected', but there is 'no internet access'.

Any ideas what is going on? I've tried everything in the manual, and everything that I can with the knowledge I have. (2 A level's in ICT including Network communications so I know what I'm doing.)

I just can't understand what is going on. Here is an image of my WLAN settings:

All the lights on the Modem are lit up correctly, and the router too. I have no idea what is wrong.

I've tried restarting and power cycling multiple times but nothing. It must be something in my configuration @ the setup page but I have no idea, everything looks fine to me.

You need to turn off Proctected WiFi as this is mostly used for external devices like wireless printers and etc. You need to set up PC WiFi under Setup/Wireless. Set the mode for Single mode G or Mixed G and N. A and B are not used much any more. Then set the Security for WPA2 and the Cipher for Auto or AES only, depends on what your devices support. Try Auto first.

I am having same problem. My HP laptop shows connection to network but no internet access. I switched my settings to the recommendation and still having the same issue. Any other thoughts as to what might work?

can you do a diagnostic or repair the connection in Network settings?
What WiFi mode are you using?
Are you getting a Internet connection over a wired connection to the router?
What Internet service do you have? DSL or cable?
Is the Primary and 2ndary DNS ip addresses filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?

Am running a C1 615 with 3.13 firmware.

I think there's a bug somewhere in the 615.  I recently configured mine to take advantage of several features, like remote access, etc.  The unit would not get wireless internet access. If I connected a LAN cable to the router, I did get internet access.  After messing with the router for about a half hour, changing everything from channels to frequencies, I reset the router to factory defaults in the firmware screen; then connected via wireless to the dlink SSID (default) with no security, then renamed dlink SSID to my new SSID, connected to the internet.  Then I added wpa2 AES encryption and reconnected to the internet.

I left everything else on the factory defaults, and the router is working great.
