I have been using the DIR-825 with a hard drive connecting to its USB port for backing up files.  The setup works fine for a while.  About two weeks ago, I suddently cannot connect it from my desktop.  The desktop uses Window XP Pro.  The problem remains after I upgrade the Shareport 3.0.  Interesting to note though is that my laptop using Windows 7 works fine for the Shareport connection.

DIR-825 Hardware Version B1.  Firmware Version 2.05NA.

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

I am having the same issue. I connected a Seagate FreeAgent Pro ext drive to the USB port on the router. The shareport utility sees the drive and is able to connect to it. But then on windows explorer the drive is shown as a local drive w/o its name, and when I double click on it, nothing happens.

I am very disappointed thisis not working as it was one of the main reasons why I bought this router.

@bcleepe: Have you checked the firewall?

@egaluzzi: Have you tried the drive when it is connected directly to your PC and it works OK? SharePort allows your drive to work the same as when directly connected. If it isn't working the same, what OS are you using?
