Hello,

I'm trying to hook up a dap-1522 to an SMC8014WG wireless router. All goes well for about 10 minutes then the SMC drops all wireless connections except the connection to the 1522, and loses internet connectivity.

There are several other wireless devices connected to the SMC but none of them causes it to go down.

Has anyone had any luck with the 1552 and the SMC8014WG?

Thanks,

Dale

Hello.  I was able to get my DAP 1522 working on a SMC 8014WN (I'm assuming same router but with N instead of G).  At first I had the same issue as you, everything would connect and work fine for 2-10 minutes then entire network would get hung up until I power cycled everything.  Then it would repeat.  I solved it by turning off UPNP on the router under the system tab in its menu (accessed via 192.168.0.1).  This however is not the fix I was hoping for - UPNP is essential for connecting multiple gaming consoles to a network while maintaining proper NAT.  Very annoying.  Try it though and see if it works for you.

I wonder if this will solve the dropped connection issue on Pioneer receivers too?  I am going to try that, since I don't have multiple gaming consoles running on my network anyway.

No, Pioneer receiver still drops off network after 30 minutes unless the DAP-1522 is disconnected.  UPNP turned off does not help.

I can't believe neither Pioneer nor DLink will actually look into this issue...

try setting your router to broadcast in only b/g or g but not b/g/n.  I know my DAP doesn't seem to like to bridge to wireless n connections.  I don't understand why this is, and realistically it makes the DAP kind of useless considering you can get wireless g usb adapters for much less.

My DAP is my wireless access point, so disabling n would really suck.  The whole point of getting it was to upgrade the wireless from my router.  I don't understand why DLink won't acknowledge this problem that has been reported by so many Pioneer receiver users?

My guess would be there are too many idiots who call in because of simple problems that could be fixed if they weren't so simple minded and ignorant.  As a result of this, they treat every caller as if they are an idiot who can't tell the difference between black and white.  I was unable to get any serious help through their customer support because they treat everyone like they don't know the first thing about networking.  The dude kept trying to get me to do stuff I had already been trying through basic troubleshooting, that any person with half a brain would have tried.  What I wanted from them was some information that perhaps only the manufacturer of the product could provide, not basic troubleshooting tips that required only the smallest amount of logic.  Can't really blame them though, those stupid ass tips probably do solve problems for the majority of callers.
