Is there any way to turn off the front green LED on the DCS-930L or do I just cover it with a piece of opaque tape?

Go to the webpage of your camera (http://-your camera IP address-) and then select the maintenance tab (3rd tab on top of screen). There you will find a radio button to switch off LED control (in the Server Setting just below the Camera Name field). Click Apply and the led will be off...
