DFL-210 WCF questions
« on: April 26, 2011, 06:51:09 AM »

Hi everyone,

I have 2 questions about the DFL-210 firewall:

-first, it is said in the french doc that the DFL-210 does not support dynamic WCF (only 260 and 860 do). In the the web interface under "Licence", Content Filtering is active (free 90 days licence) and anyway i can configure it and seems to work (i tried an ALG with some categories). What does it mean? After these 90 days it will stop working? Under "Update Center" i can't see Content Filter for update, only anti-virus and IDP, is it normal? Shouldn't be any update for that too?

- second question, is there a way to add multiple URL in an ALG Blacklist or Whitelist in one shot? Import from a CSV file for example or whatever?

Thanks a lot

initially dfl 210 and dfl 800 don't have support for wcf and av scanning.

this features were added in 2.26 firmware update, with the respective 30 days trial, the dfl 210 offers less performance than the dfl 260 using ids or/and av scanning because dfl 260 have a hardware accelerator to do this tasks.

if do you want to get ids av or wcf service you have to buy a license.

if you find how to add multiple url maybe by the ssh cli post here the info please

Thank you for your answer, sorry but things are still unclear to me.

The only thing i need is WCF (static and dynamic) and DFL-210 should be enough for that.
So do i need to buy a license to keep dynamic and static (url filter) WCF working after 90 days trial? Or license is just to keep dynamic wcf up to date?
Anyway in the update center, i can see only anti-virus and IDP update status, no WCF... what does it mean?

I tried to found WCF license to buy for DFL-210 in the french market but seems that it doesn't exist... I can found it only in US, i guess there is no difference?

Sorry to insist but there is no documentation at all for DFL-210 and WCF.

Thank you

exactly

the static url blacklisting and withe listing and mime check are functions enabled without license

The license is required for dynamic web content filtering using categories.

Sometimes is  hard to find the license for dfl 210 and 800 because many distributors still believing that function only apply for dfl 260 and 860.

Personally i think dfl 210 and dfl 800 are capable of:

static and dynamic web filtering without problems.
ids for light amount of traffic.
not suitable for AV scanning because too low performance.

For serious use of IDS and AV scanning is needed dfl 260 or 860 because this models sports a hardware accelerator to improve IDS and AV tasks
