Multiple DNS-320 managed with single Macintosh
« on: June 13, 2011, 12:54:53 PM »

I have recently installed a DNS-320 with two 2TB drives in a RAID 1 configuration which I access over an Ethernet switch to a Mac mini running OS X 10.6.7. I have given the DNS-320 a static ip address and turned on the afp protocol and have been successful with managing the DNS-320 from the Mac - read/write work great. I also currently auto-mount the DNS-320 at start up which shows up as “Volume_1” on the mac desktop.

The rest of my network is wifi and a mix of windows 7 and OS X 10.6 machines – all are currently successfully accessing the single DNS-320.

My question is:
I would like to add another DNS-320 with it’s own static ip on the same switch, but will the new DNS-320 have the same volume name “Volume_1” and will this give me problems with mounting both DNS-320’s on the mac mini’s desktop for management and file access. I understand that there is currently no way to change the volume name of the DNS-320.
