Author Topic: printer issues, I know there are bugs in 2.00 but is this normal?  (Read 4284 times)

Trying to sort out my printer issues. I have an HP Deskjet 4400. I read something about certain types of printers are not able to be used, so that's my first question. I can't use the beta firmware because it causes my network not to see the NAS.

I am hesitant to give up this early because in the logs, every time I try to access //myip/lp I see an "access denied" in the logs. However I never see any printers coming up on the search and I'm never prompted for a username and password. I have no users set up and read somewhere that it may work in this mode? I don't have the need for any users so I don't know why it's denying access.

This is on Win7 but my Linux machine acts in the same way.

@ violetdream:

Printing with FW lower 2.01 definitivly won't work when User accounts are set up.

But i don't understand the probs seeing the NAS in Network with 2.01. In my office 2.01 works well. Installed it,
made a reset of the NAS (only disconnected Power Supply for a few seconds)
and all worked well. Can see it on my PC (Windows 7), my other PC (Win XP), my Notebook (Win 7 / 64) via WLAN,
even my TV-Set and the Web-Radio (an old Terratec Noxon) can see the NAS..

The only handicap of 2.01 is the editing of existing users and shares: They can't be edited.
2.01 is just a Beta..
the only way to "edit" User/Share settings is to delete the User/share and create a new one with the changed settings..
