making custom menus
« on: January 25, 2009, 09:09:59 AM »

I own the DSM 520 Media Center
the menu on the dlink is alright but would like more pizaz to it .Is there anyway that one can make a custom menu with their own graphics and specifications?
I would like my menu to display movie posters and ability to add descriptions that don't fit the info screen
Would be cool to design your own menu system and have the ability to access all drives rather than changing drives from the Dlink folders menu.
Design on computer but can be run by the Media Center

Do you mean something similar to the Active TV application?  That can be customized quite a bit.  You should be able to get some tips here as he is pretty knowlegable on how all this works.

Don't use Active Tv all that much and that link doesn't really cover it either
its  a menu driven program that can access all files and pics and pictures on the hard drive and  make a workable menu similar to what an be done on Windows Media Center Can and using the controls to navigate thru them all and select the one you want
menu can be designed by the user with his choice of colors and fields plus since dlink 520 already displays both pictures and files they can be incorporated together along with drive paths to the selected file
ie a menu like Titan Tv but where you click on the link pllays and/or shows the description and full name as well
not certain that I'm explaining this in terms that ou may understand
just imagine a menu with the name and full description and a theatrical or DVD image of the movie or series with a GUI interface and select radio button on it that you can just use the arrow or number keys to selectand interchange between the select screen and scroll bar thru the rest of the list.
and the select buton knows where to find that file on your drives
