Hi,

we regret to inform that the product DIR-685 was withdrawn from production. This means it is unlikely you will get the firmware that will bring new functionality. No comment - EOL

ad 2 / fan should dynamically adjust its speed depending on temperature. In our tested unit when the unit is cool the fan is switched off completely  Hmm - they using SSD probably

ad 3 / device has a limited number of connections, it means pulling a few links via Bit Torrent may be problems with access via SMB - (SAMBA) - Epic fail

ad 4 / ask for a more accurate description, if it happens every now and then, in certain situations?

ad 5 / unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control service Frame Channel has been suspended (external provider) - No future 4 us

Regards,

Hello! Do something already known on the new firmware u for Dir-685?,
ie: if at all will be or when and how to solve errors.

Excess of that recently because in April I bought your product,
with family, Platinum,''which was to offer a range of services and it is not,
Let me mention:

1st You changed in firmware new date format on the LCD 24 to 12, am-pm,
We are in Europe and probably rather use the 24h format.

2nd Mega loud cooling fan that can not be excluded from the menu.

3rd Freezing Bit Torrent client link after entering 4 slots - Communication Server (router) not responding

4th Suspending the FTP server.

5th Disabling Frame It and Frame Channel.

That's probably enough: (

I also question whether the new firmware will be provided the options and whether you as a business plan,
launch a similar service as Frame Channel or browse add RSS functions locally by the firmware.

So far, these features result in a substantial derogation from the contract that provides state
support and trouble-free device works in a / g consumer law.

Please do not receive this notification as manifestations of aggression, etc. .., just ask me about understanding the problem,
all users of the DIR-658 and their level of frustration.

Please, answer and transfer the problem to support classes in the U.S. departments or TW
or contact us directly to the department of software development to further escalation.

Thanks in advance and best regards.
                                                                                                     slightly disappointed customer.

This really bugs me.  Just because a product is EOL doesn't mean they should just drop support for fixing bugs or features the product sold with that don't work.  That's the equivalent of taking your money and running with it.

At least offer registered owners an offer on an alternative comparative product either by replacement or at a fair discount!  Don't just leave us in the dark with an unfinished product!!!  That's how you lose credibility and customers.

p.s. still working with support and haven't been told this product is EOL like you were.  I am now moving to the 3rd level of support and expect a call back tomorrow.  Hopefully some good news?  Also, so far my tech support experiences with DLink have been pretty positive.  They haven't questioned my technical abilities and seem to be wanting to get it figured out.  We'll see how it pans out. =)

Doesn't sound like they ack issues with the router and willing to fix them.  :(

Maybe they are stopping the production of A1 and starting the production A2 version?

If not gone maybe is time for new firmware as last update is dated 15 Feb 2011, which is anyway full of bugs
