SlowRW speeds with wireless N
« on: July 11, 2011, 01:38:57 PM »

I realize this is likely a problem with my router but I thought I'd post here as well. My setup is as follows

Linksys e3000 with simultaneous dual band.
Acer desktop PC with cat6 to Linksys e3000 router
DNS 323 with 2x 1tb drives RAID1 with cat6 to e3000
Dell Laptop wireless N

testing using NAstester.

Speeds between the 323 and the Acer are fine. 16-20MB/s. Speeds over wireless N to and from the laptop are terrible. 1.5-2 MB/s. Speedtest.net from the laptop says I'm getting 16 MB/s over my wireless N but data transfer with the 323 is abysmal. Now the reason I know it's likely the router is that transfers between my laptop and pc are also very slow. I just thought I'd post seeing as many of you have experience in this area and the support forum for the e3000 is not nearly as good.

Thanks

You've done the tests. you've seen the results - what you need to do now is accept them for what they are - wireless, even wireless-n, is dismally slow for "bulk" data transfers.

RAID1 is for disk redundancy - NOT data backup - don't confuse the two.
