So I've been using my DNS-323 with my Mac (OS 10.6.

for over a year. The other day I tried to access it using an assigned IP of '192.168.1.4' but it wouldn't connect (timed out). I've tried to do a network scan to find it and the address doesn't exist anymore – but a new share called 'dlink-9e42a1' appears under 'Shared' now that I can't seem to access either with my login or the DNS default login.
So my questions are:
1. Any ideas as to what happened? Why did it suddenly lose its address, become inaccessible and appear as a new 'dlink-xxxx' share that I've never seen before?
2. Last resort, if I do a hardware reset of the box, will the hard drive's retain their data and not be formatted or otherwise lost? The original setup is 2 Western Digital 1TB Green drives formatted using the DNS-323 as EXT3.
Thanks for any help!
