Hi everybody,

I have bought a DIR 615 router one week ago and although my main goal was to use it at better wireless speeds (using the N feature) it turned out that I can only use it as a normal router. The hardware version is H1 and the software ver is 8.0.

The problem is that whenever I turn on the wireless with default configuration, the router immediately starts resetting by itself over and over again. Sometimes it doesn't reconnect, but as soon as I try to connect to it using one of my laptops, it immediately starts restarting. After it starts the continuous resetting, it is very hard to reset its settings using the hardware reset button, because I don't even have time to press it for 10 seconds. If the wireless is turned off, everything works.

Can you please help me ?

Thank you in advance.

What HW version is your router?
What FW version is currently loaded?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2.
Any other WiFi routers in the area?
Use InSSIDer application to see whats around you.
What region of the world are you located?

HW Ver: H1
FW Ver. 8.0

ISP Service: Cable
ISP Modem: No modem. Direct ethernet connection to outside.

QOS is off
Everything else is setup as decscribed.
There are aprox 5 or 6 wifi routers in the area (I used an app that shows their channels and tried to select a free one but the results are the same)
I tried also single mode g and every kind of mix.
Region: Romania

If you turn off ALL Wireless devices and only connect a wired PC, and you turn on the WiFi, does the router auto reset itself? If so, it's possible this unit is defective.
