DWA-547 problems

Sorry that this is in the wrong forum area but I coudn't find 547 and this is close.

I recently got the RangeBooster N 650 Desktop Adapter DWA-547 and put it in my PC. When XP started up it detected the device and asked for me to install the driver, which I did from the CD, but once it was installed it said that the wireless adapter was not found. The LED is also off on the device, any tips?
