DNS-321 with Windows 7
« on: January 23, 2009, 06:41:12 PM »

Hi, I've had my DNS-321 working well with Vista x86 for a month now.  I recently installed Windows 7 64-bit beta on another partition on the same computer.  So far, I am unable to connect to my NAS in any way.  First off, I have disabled Windows firewall and anti virus.  If I type in the IP address of the unit in a browser, it times out (IE and Firefox).  If I search using the D-Link utility, it doesn't find anything.  If I try to map a drive using known parameters, it can't find anything.  Strangely though, the device is recognized through the Windows network map, shows the right picture for it, where it is located, and the correct IP address.  Nothing happens if it click on it, no right-click menu.  If I ping the device, windows says it pings the .12 address I know it's at, but responds saying a .7 address replied as "destination host unreachable."  The .7 address is the DHCP address assigned to my PC under Windows 7.  If I do a tracert on the .12 address, it identifies the name of the unit, but responds on the .7 address again as "Destination host unreachable."

What could be going on?  Everything on the NAS is fine in relation to my x86 Vista install.  Is this a 64-bit issue or a Windows 7 screwing with the network issue?  Thanks for any help!

Your not even able to access the Web-based configuration page? Sounds like an issue with Windows7 64 beta, unfortunately I do not have Windows7 64 installed on any machines at this time to test but I'll let you know if I come across one.

Well, looks like a lot of people are interested, thanks for the reply.  Not a significant issue yet, but glad to know D-Link is at least aware of it yet.  Hope you get some copies of Windows 7 in the lab soon to begin testing!

I'm running Windows 7 Beta right now and I have no problems accessing the DNS-321 or the device Web page.

By the way, I'm running Vista 7 Beta 64-bit. No problems.
Did you install the 64-bit driver for the DSN-321?
Mine worked with limited capabilities but had an (!) in device manager besides the DNS-321. Once I installed dLink's driver, everying was fine.
