Folder size question: Why do they differ?

Folder size of the same folder copied to the NAS and on to my PC are very different.  Should I worry? Has anyone noticed this? Is there a fix?

DNS-323, f/w 1.06, 2x 750GB mirrored, setup fresh after a reset to default settings and a fresh format of the NAS. Folder viewed through an iMac OS 10.5 (fully updated).

Here is a screen capture to illustrate the differences:

EDIT: even the number of items in the folders was different.... now they show as identical?!?!?!?!
