DFL-860 + Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router
« on: October 08, 2010, 11:25:24 PM »

Hey guys,

This should probably be a pretty simple answer to the most of you, and I do appreciate any help with this I can get!

My setup consists of a D-link DSL-2740B v. E1 ADSL2+ modem/router which is hooked up to my connection through a static ip. This modem is bridged to a D-link DFL-860 UTM firewall which is currently set up to serve through one DHCP interface on a segment between 192.168.2.20-80, this all works fine and the connection is served as its suppose to do.

Here's my problem. I've also got a Netgear WGR614 Wireless router of which I intend to hook up to the D-link DFL-860 firewall. When performing the LAN connection to the Netgear router i'm telling it to use static information served by the Firewall, however the link to the DSL is lost in between and no internet connection is served to the Netgear.

Please advise me on how to proceed, the intention with the hookup of the Wireless router is distribute wireless internet access to the selected IP's in the DHCP interface of the firewall. Is this the correct way to proceed hooking up a secondary router to the firewall? As said, this must be simple for many of you, but I sure do appreciate the help.

disable dhcp on wireless router, and then connecto to dfl lan port using any lan port of wireless router.

its advisable to hook and configure another interface (wan2 for example) to isolate wireless traffic from the lan.
