Greetings, I have read the current posts but have not found mentioned as to if the usb port of Rev A DIR-625 will accept a printer. Any assistance appreciated.

I just bought a 625 router from newegg (2-3-09), and received a rev a2 version.  I specifically purchased this router based on the fact that I could have an usb external drive connected to my network.  Now I find out that it can't.  I am extremely disappointed, because the dlink website said that the 625 would support this feature.  Can't believe it.  Trolling through these forums, the mods appear to be nonchalant and uncaring about the issue.

Will Dlink release a firmware to support shareport?  If not - you've lost a customer.

the D-Link website clearly states that the shareport is only available on the rev C hardware.

I just purchased the same on 2/9/09 and received a rev. C which requires an updated Firmware download to make the Shareport work.  Just call NewEgg and ask for a replacement unit with Rev. C.  NewEgg has excellent support.  I'm really impressed by this DIR-625 unit.  I also own the DIR-615 which works great.  Eventually I will get a DIR-825 or 855 for the office when I get ready to roll out some surveillance cameras for our business.  I have used D-Link Products since 1986 and have always found them to be a great value.  Not perfect, but a great value.

It sounds like NewEgg just had some old stock for whatever reason.  If you buy this unit before 2/17/09 you get it for $59.95 + a DWA-642 adapter free + free shipping.  That is a hard to beat deal and I'm sure NewEgg will take care of the problem.

I suspect D-Link can't upgrade a Rev. A2 to a C because it is probably built with different/updated components.  I am thankful for improvements, but realize it is important to pay attention to Revs when upgrading firmware etc.

I hope this helps.
