P2P downloader not obeying schedule
« on: October 30, 2011, 02:11:26 PM »

I am using the P2P downloader on my DNS-320. Under P2P settings, P2P is enabled, I am using the date/time scheduler, Auto Download is On, Encryption enabled. Firmware version 2.01.

My problem is that the application does not obey the date/time schedule. It is often downloading even during the "Stop" hours. I've checked System Management -> Time and Date, and the current system time is correct.

To get it to obey, I need to disable P2P, save settings, and then re-enable P2P. Then it seems to obey the schedule until a few days later.

Am I understanding the use of the P2P scheduler correctly? Is there some way to clear my P2P settings and start over (if the answer to this is a firmware reset, please let me know very basically how, and if it will harm the data on the Volumes and existing partial P2P downloads.)

I appreciate your help. I've gotten a lot of good info from just reading existing forum topics.

Which firmware version are you using ?

I tested this on mine (2.0 final) and it worked as expected.
If I unchecked the current hour (torrents were running), then pressed save in Settings, then went to Download, torrent was stopped. It also worked to stop sometimes during the night (few hours into the future).

Just make sure when you press Save in Settings that you wait enough (till you get spinning circle image which tells 'wait, loading'). I got some strange behavior if I pressed Save, didn't wait, changed some more things, pressed Save again, etc.

I'm using Firmware 2.01, dated 05/12/2011. I do believe I am waiting long enough. I have not actually changed the schedule in several weeks. I will have a schedule (on only overnight) and have the P2P program Enabled. Maybe a day after my last restart of the NAS, I will notice the internet connection is slow. When I check the NAS, I see the P2P download speed is way above zero (but it is obeying my download rate limit).

To fix it, I Disable P2P, Save, wait a minute, Enable P2P, then Save again. Then when I go to the downloads list, all downloads have paused. But then a few hours later, the downloads will have somehow started again without my intervention.

I think I should reset the Firmware/settings to factory default (System Management -> System Settings). If I do this, will I lose any of my data on the hard drives?

Thank you.
