I browsed the other topics and didn't find anything to help me with my issue.

I just unwrapped a new DAP-1360 to use as a repeater with my new DGL-4500, hoping it would give me a signal boost on the front end of my house.  After extensive research and fiddling with settings, I did manage to get the laptop in the front room to register a signal with full bars, as opposed to the 1-2 bars previously.

However, having an excellent signal strength did nothing to bring my Internet performance back up to par.  It remained at turtle speed when using the repeater.  Does anyone have any suggestions for where I might look to remedy this issue?  Is my problem with the repeater config, or the router config, or maybe both?

What HW version is your router and DAP?
What FW version is currently loaded on both?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Router tips:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area?

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

I would recommend returning your DAP-1360 for a fulll refund. And ***** at the seller to not charge you restock fee. Because this thing is seriously flawed if you're trying to use it as a repeater (just read the reviews from Newegg and Amazon. wish I would've beforehand).

Mine came in today and I got it up and running fine. HW:A1, FW: updated to 1.10. Manual setup (I work in IT don't need a wizard). WPA2-PSK, N-only, autochannel, auto20/40. I can see my wireless device connect to DIR-655 (in MAC table) but get maaaaybe .1mb, more like .01mb downstream, about .5 up, with a 400ms ping.

Maybe the HW rev. B works better, but I'm not going to mess with it. If that is the case why would rev. A units still be in retail channels if they are so flawed.

Sorry to be so negative and I love my DIR-655 quite a lot but D-Link really dropped the ball with engineering on this device. I except my tech, especially consumer tech, to "Just work". This does. not. work. And I'm not going to fiddle with changing my encryption to WPA-TKIP, use MAC filtering(why?) etc. etc. that I read about in making this work as a repeater.

Maybe instead of being so negative, and since you said you work in IT and you got yours going, why don't you help out and see if you can be of assistance here and see if we can help each other out. Most issues are not HW related and are user configuration issues that we here can probably help resolve. We are here to help each other out for a better user experience.
