Connection Dies when aplying game patch
« on: November 03, 2011, 05:30:18 PM »

Hello all,

I just bought this router, i configured it everything.

I had a cheap router before and i decided to update myself with this one..but i guess it was not a good idea.

Im downloading a patch update o***ame called League of Legends but it starts downloading and then just sloowly starts to die and finally dying with no internet connection. As soon as i close the update patch after 2 min the connection comes back again.

I thought it could be some firewall issue so i unchecked the enable SPI and have UDP TCP endpoint independent.

Theres some config below i havent touched:

APPLICATION LEVEL GATEWAY (ALG) CONFIGURATION
PPTP, IPSecVPN, RTSP, SIP and theyre all checked. Should i change something there?

This is driving me nuts.. and sometimes it just dies on its own and then comes back.. any settings or config i should try???

What HW version is your router?
What FW version is currently loaded?
How are you connected to the router? Wired or Wireless?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Google to the rescue. Try these links.

High Latency to Download servers

One common fix I found was to make sure you uninstall some program call "Pando Media Booster" Found it mentioned 30-40 times over 5-6 threads, so may be something to it.
