Initial Install and setup.
« on: October 26, 2011, 09:29:00 PM »

I have a brand new DNS-320. I have an HTPC I am trying to install it to. I have installed two new Samsung 2 TB drives - HD204UI Model. It all went smooth. I followed the instructions for once. I put the drives in. Connected the power, network cables, etc. Then I fired it up.

The power light blinked like it is supposed to. But the software could not find it. I tried a few times. I swapped ports and cables. The light eventually quit blinking and the two disk lights are on. I am trying to connect it to a windows 7 computer.

I searched the forum, read the manual, etc. Anyone have any ideas?

Here's a doh moment for you. I restarted the Window 7 box, and this time I was prompted to allow firewall access for the software. It works...

From the wording of your question, I'm not 100% sure where you physically connected the DNS-320. The DNS-320 is designed to connect directly to your router, not the network port on your Windows PC. Once connected to your network, the software should be able to find the device. You can directly access the DNS-320 web interface by entering the device IP address in a web browser (e.g. http://192.168.x.x).

I have tried for a while but been unsucessfull in trying to access my dns as a network drive.  The laptop i setup the dns320 with can access the drive over network or when connected directly as a shared drive.  I can catch the streaming UPnP with all the laptops but not as network drive.  What can I do to have all laptops access the DNS as network drive.  DNS320 current firmware is 2.00

Many thanks.
