Author Topic: Issues with DNS-320 communicating with Panasonic BluRay player and xBox  (Read 2737 times)

Hi all,

I recently purchased a DNS-320; this is the first NAS unit I've used, so please bear with me.

I've connected the NAS to my router, which is also connected to my Panasonic Blu-ray player (SC-BTT270) and my Xbox. I've ensured that all hardware has the latest firmware and updates.

First, I noticed a problem when trying to play movies (which are in a variety of formats) through my Xbox; some movies would not play, though I put this down to a file format issue.

However, when I attempted to play them through the Blu-ray player I could see all the files but could not access a single one. I decided to test a .DivX file by playing it from a USB pen drive; it played perfectly. But when I stored the exact same file on the NAS and attempted to play it the Blu-ray player would not even load it. I've found a similar thing with the Xbox.

Does anyone have any suggestions? If you need any additional information please let me know and I'll reply as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Tom

Most smart TV/Bluray players are alot more robust at playing video formats from USB, alot of them trip up when trying to stream over a upnp server.
I'm afraid Panasonic don't really have good reports of streaming media over a network. The Xbox is also quite flakey at playing make video files.

There's not alot you can do except hope Panasonic update their firmware (unlikely) or buy something alot more capable like LG.
