Got Active Directory working, But...
« on: July 17, 2009, 10:21:07 AM »

Ok, so I couldn't get ADS to work for the life of me with the public 1.02 firmware. I just got the unit so I haven't loaded anything to it yet, so I thought what the hell and got the 1.03 beta firmware and applied. Also got the ADS plugin pack, and loaded. After that, AD integration worked perfectly fine. Only problem is, when mapping a drive (from vista or xp) normally (in Explorer, Tools->Map Network Drive) it always asks for a username and password. so I give it my domain username and password, won't take it. Not sure what to put in there. If I use the Dlink EZ search or whatever it's called (blue app) it will map the drives just fine and it also seems to correct the issue (I can make a new shared folder that didn't exist before, and map it, without a problem, doesn't pop up a password box) at least for the current session. I haven't tried restarting my machine and seeing if that fixes it, but I will. Just wanted to see if anyone came across this or might know a workaround or something...

Bam right on the money it looks like. I can add by IP. I read that entire thing before posting my first message but I guess it didn't click, or I read it when my Active Directory support wasn't working at all... either way

map by IP address.
Create an A record for dns-343 seems to work as well
You have to create the shares through the web interface of the NAS, but doing that works just fine. Haven't tried it for groups but it does work for users.
