Encrypted Partition
« on: August 14, 2009, 05:11:13 AM »

Has anyone tried creating an encrypted partition on the DNS 323? All I can seem to find is using a file and loop mounting it as a filesystem. This is not what I want since I have a 750GB of space I eventually will fill.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone tried cross-compiling cryptsetup for the DNS-323?

My current desktop uses to to encrypt a partition where I keep all my work. What I would like to do is move the files in my desktop's encrypted partition over to the NAS. This way I can use either my desktop or laptop without having to copy across the network.

My only reason for an encrypted partition is so that if the NAS is ever stolen, the data on it is secure (at least not in the clear to anyone with a root access on a linux box).

Thanks!
