its a bit old news.

but i managed to buy 2x2tb WD ears for 160 euro's a month ago ;)

The event is a bit old (a couple of months now), but the repercussions have only started to hit the consumer market hard in the past couple of weeks.

prices are stabilizing already.
i've seen the price for my HD go from 80 euro to 280 euro.
now its stable at 150 euro.

still a lot but i think prices will decline slowly next time, but wonder when they are at the prices from a couple months ago.

edit:
the external hd's are in the netherlands somehow still cheap.
many people buy external disks and break open the box :)

There was an initial price surge as a reaction to the market and opportunistic vendors trying to price gouge, but yes HDD retail prices have stabilized, but not at the plateau that merits purchase. I think it will be another several months before we see the prices decline and start to settle in.
