Poor Voice Quality
« on: February 20, 2009, 05:07:30 PM »

Ok have set these phones up on a managed HP Procurve 2810-24 GiGE, they are the only devices on this switch. There are 4 pots lines connected to the pots bridge box and the voice quality is still terrible using no voip at all. I've played with everything i can think to try, but the funny part is I think it is the handsets. If I connect to someone and have them put me on hold as long as I place my finger over the microphone on the handset the resulting inbound audio is just fine. However if I lift my finger off of the microphone any ambient noise stomps on the inbound audio so it breaks up the quality so far as to be near unusable. Anyone test this on theirs by covering the handset microphone?

If I understand your post correctly, the voice quality you are talking about is on outside POTS lines???

If your internal calls are fine, but outside calls are not, then you need to adjust the line settings on your gateway.  It will take some time and you will have to do each line individually.

There is a post in this forum called "Static and Advanced Settings", read that and see if that helps your quality issues.  It cleared up 95% of mine.

Good luck.
