DGL 4500 keeps dropping signal
« on: March 12, 2012, 04:31:10 PM »

Hey all its been a while since ive been on here lets just say i havent had any problems with my router until now. I ditched DSL today and got 20 MB down 2 MB up road runner/time warner cable internet and moved my router to the living room next to the cable box. Before that I used to have it in my room and didnt see any wifi drops. BUT now that its in the living room and using cable its dropped the signal about 4 times. I havent see if its time intervals but I happen to notice when im on my xbox 360 and on my macbook. I did a full hard reset on the router started G/F and all the other settings from scratch to see if it would fix it. 5 Mins after that I did it but it hasnt since that time. What could be the problem if any?
Thanks

What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N on 5Ghz?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.
Turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
