QOS Question
« on: March 09, 2009, 08:29:54 AM »

I am trying to stream blu-ray film playback from my NAS to laptops linked by the HD channel (300Mbps) of my DIR-855. In general it works quite well, but suffers from occasional stuttering of sound and/or picture, which I assume is due to buffering problems.

What steps can I take to maximise the throughput of this type of data with the DIR-855, I read that QOS maximises throughput for "gaming and VOIP" applications - does this mean I would be better turning QOS off for my router?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

QoS on these routers, ONLY applies to uploads.  And it's not necessarily for just gaming or VOIP.  It can be for ANY application or device.  In fact, since everything is a wireless stream, you should be using WISH, and setup rules that way.  Or even no rules, but using Automatic classification.
