I only receive about 75% range with my laptops at only 20 ft away. My old, cheap Belkin wireless G was way better. My PS3 fluctuates and can get as low as 50-60% sitting at only 15-20 ft away. There is no interference to speak of other than a thin, not very well insulated wall. I hear all about the great range of the DGL-4500 so something is clearly wrong. I have the router set on wireless G only since that's all I have. Can anyone give me a few tips on what the proper configuration ought to be on this device to achieve better connectivity? I've reset it multiple times thinking that could be the issue. I'm convinced that it must be something I'm not configuring right since this router seems to have such great reviews.

In addition, can anyone tell me what there dl and ul speed is on there PS3? I pretty much max out at 8.5mbps dl and 4mbps ul.

Also, I have the latest model hw and fw. There are no other devices in my apt that would interfere with the signal. No phone, no furniture in the way, nothing like that.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem brand and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

Also, what could effect speed is how many other Wireless "G" routers are around your apartment.  Have you done a site survey to see what other SSID's are in your area?

Nice program.  I personally use Meraki WiFi Stumbler

And, of course Windows has a site survey built-in.

It is.  Even D-Link pushes their customers to use it (Which I applaud).  That is the safest way for wireless.

What fraggboy said. Yes. AES man. Just be sure your devices can support it. Some don't.
