Dlink 655 and Samsung 5700 Blue Ray
« on: December 21, 2011, 02:00:06 PM »

I just set up my 655 and it hooked up to the internet right away.  I also connected my x box and wi-fy iphone without a hitch.  THen I tried to connect my blue ray player that has a wireless feature.  My last dlink router recognized the blue ray without a problem.  With the 655, the blue ray can see my router and network, but can't connect, saying their is a dchp issue or I need to fix the IP address.

Does anyone know anything about this.  Dlink support told me to upgrade firmware but my version is 2.0, and the only thing I can find is a V1.34.  Anyone know anything that can help me???

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
IF your seeing v1.3x, then you probably have a Rev A router. Firmware 2.0x only works on Rev B routers.
There is a v1.35 version for Rev A.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? Try turning OFF wireless security and see if the BD player will connect, Then turn it back ON and test. Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.

Does the BD player have a wired LAN connection? Test with a wired connection if it supports it.

I am using a motorola sb5101 modem, and my router is hareware version B1 with F/W ver 2.00 NA, I will try the suggestions below tomorrow. When I called D Link support I told them what HW and FW I was using and they told me to go to their site and download new FW, but I could not find anything newer than 2.00.

The really weird thing is last night, for some reason the blue ray worked, I could see my movies on my computer, lasted for about 30 seconds and then lost connectivity.

Thanks for getting back to me so quick, that is awesome.  Will try suggestions tomorrow and re post results.

The lastest FW for the Rev B router is 2.03NA   7/07/2011

Test out the suggestions first before updating and let us know.

Thanks Furrynuts  (never thougth I would type that!)

I will try out your suggestions first since as I read through these posts I understand a FW upgrade is a sigificant event.

Would you possibly have the address o***ood site to download 2.03 NA incase I need it tonight.

Thanks for all your help and quick responses, you have helped a lot.

Well, tried all the security changes with no avail, did the upgrade which was increadibly easy and after re setting up the router everything is working great, all home devices attached with WEP A security enabled.  Very happy. Fuzzynuts, thanks for your help.

Ok Glad it's working well.

WEP is a good mode however WPA would be preferred as it's more secure. However you may have some devices that may not support WPA. Could be this case here.

Enjoy it. Merry Christmas
