Cannot delete or access MS backup files
« on: March 20, 2009, 02:58:45 PM »

Please anyone, I have not found a solution to this.

I use Vista's built in backup and it does report success for nightly backups, but I cannot see the backup folder size (they show as 0 bytes), or access anything within the folders I have set up on the DNS to send the backups to.

For instance, I eventually lost access to the intitial backup folder I set up (don't ask me why but it failed each time backup ran), so I set up another folder and it seems to work ok.  Now I have this massive folder (the original) and I cannot delete it so save space.  I have 1.5TB that is showing as 97% full and I am backing up less than half of that much data off my PC.

My drive is now full and I can't delete or start over.  With the backup utility in windows, you have to do a fresh backup from time to time as the incrementals add up data quickly.

I also have some other files on the DNS that I don't have space to move onto my PC, so I can't really reformat the drives and hope for the best unless I buy another backup drive(s).

I can't believe I would have to buy more backup drives to offload this data when I bought this device specifically for this reason.  This is ridiculous.

I do see that the memeo backup seems to work fine with the DNS.  I'm sure it's coincidence that I have to purchase that item separate.

Sorry, I'm getting very frustrated with this little box.
