Help Upgrading
« on: January 03, 2012, 01:38:06 PM »

I have a D-Link 323 running with a single 1 TB drive. I have bought 2 2TB drives and I want to put them in my D-link using raid-1 and copy all the data that was on the original hard drive. How do I do this with out deleting anything. I would think this is a pretty common scenario but I could not find anything about this in the FAQ. Any help would be appreciated.

Procedure:

  • Install one of your new 2TB HDDs into the free slot and configure as Standard Format
  • Transfer your data from the 1TB HDD to the 2TB HDD
  • Power down the DNS-323
  • Remove the 1TB HDD and insert the second 2TB HDD
  • Power up the DNS-323
  • You should get an option to create a RAID-1 array

** Store your original 1TB HDD in a safe place in case the RAID-1 conversion fails.

You should also look into the latest beta firmware depending on your 2TB drive model.
