Hi

I have just purchased a DNS-320 and added my disks and configured. However my FTP server will not start.

I setup the FTP server as follows:


Max Users    3
Idle Time   (1~10 Minutes) 10
Port   ( 1025 ~ 3688, 3690 ~ 49999, 65501 ~ 65535, Default: 21) 1914
Passive Mode   Use the default port range (55536~55663)
Client Language    << Westen ISO 
Flow Control   Unlimited     x 10 KBs - Unlimited
SSL/TLS   Allow SSL/TLS connection only - Selected
FXP - Disable

When I press the save settings button all the options just blank. When you press the FTP start button the ftp server does not start.
Even if I leave all setting at their default I have exactly the same results.

Any suggestions?

Hi,
A possible suggestion, try with everything at the default settings first, i.e., don't change port, don't check passive mode, don't enable SSL/TLS and then see if you can get the FTP server to save and work.  If it does then try changing from the defaults one setting at a time.  I left mine to work with the default settings because as soon as I enabled SSL/TLS I had trouble connecting.  If you run into trouble accessing the 320 after you can get it enabled, try searching youtube for "Dlink NAS FTP SETUP".  They have a couple Dlink sponsored videos which are pretty decent.  Good luck.

when you enter the P2P application you will automaticly enter the settings option.Check enable and then highlight all the small blue boxes to darkblue.Press save. Then look for a torrentsite and rightclick the file you wnt and choose copy url. then paste the link in "add torrent" field in the p2p application. Good Luck

I had already tried entering the settings at their defaults but no luck. When you enter settings and press the save key basically all the settings FLASH on the screen and then disappear. I have tried defaults and changing them one by one by one. BUT to no avail. I have also tried a factory reset and I still get the same issue.
I have also tried pressing the Do Not Save button but still the settings FLASH and just disappear. I have also tried setting the settings and then pressing the Start FTP but still the settings just flash and disappear and the FTP server does not start. :-(

Any further suggestions?

Quick update. FIXED IT Yey!! :-)

Not sure how though.
I closed it down (for the 100th time. Ok slight exaggeration). Took both drives out. Turn it on and of course it would not start up. Tuned it off and re-inserted the drives and now all is well. The FTP server started.

Thats the best I can say.

It's advisable to perform a reset to factory default especially so after firmware upgrade, it does resolve a number of issues.
