Actually Make your DGL-4500 Perform.
« on: January 12, 2012, 04:07:21 PM »

1:)First the little bastard likes to overheat so make sure its upright and in a open space.

2:)Second make sure you have the right firmware to hardware revision they dont tell you they have changed the hard 3+ times "1.15 First Gen - Second Gen/1.23 Third Gen"

3:)Third by just lowering the broadcast strength from "HIGH to MEDIUM" makes a big difference for First and Second Gen DGL-4500.

I have 2 4500s, one at v1.22 and an A2 at 1.21. Both work just fine. The A1 is going on 7 years old now. There other options that you can use too. All in the stickys. Both units run fairly cool too. Nothing hot.

Changed the hard 3+times?

V1.2x came released with the A2's Both A1 and A2s can run the latest v1.23.

Actually if you modify the Logs it reduces the heat quite a bit.

A1's definitely do not like 1.2x, 3 out 3 routers all purchased at the same time hate 1.2x i've got 5 days under my routers belt. I tried the same firmware on the 2 other routers same results "crashes every 4-5 hours","Hate wifi N spotty even close to router","Gamefuel unusable 4% average packet loss" hmmmm maybe your house is very cold or something of the sort.

Both my a1 and a2 werk flawlessly. Only reason your wound be crashing would be external interfrences or user mis-configuration.

You can check the sticker under the router.
If your router is working, probably doing just fine man. If it works, don't fix it.

I have an A1 using 1.22NA and it's working great.

8 Channel bonding if your ISP supports it. Mine doesn't yet so I only get 4. Hoping maybe they might sometime.
