« on: February 12, 2012, 07:45:36 PM »

Hi Folks,

I tried to find the answer of this question (withing forum) but no luck.

Is it possible to use one of my PC's drives into DNS-323 without formatting it?

Cheers.

No - and this question has been both asked & answered before.

RAID1 is for disk redundancy - NOT data backup - don't confuse the two.

The DNS-323 formats HDDs using the linux file system and will not recognize HDDs formatted in Windows (FAT/NTFS).

The assumption made of course is that by "PC" you mean a Windows system :) If it was a Linux "PC" then the answer may be different, but in any case the DNS323 should (must) be used to vreate various partitions and set permissions etc.
