Router Logs HELP PLEASE!!!
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:22:46 PM »

I am using a DIR-655 A4 with 1.34NA firmware. I need to be able to view the router logs occasionally. I have the emails coming to the correct email address however all of the logs are dated Nov 27th. If I click on the "status" tab, then "logs" then "email now" I do get the current logs. I have a schedule setup for the logs to be sent on a daily basis. The schedule is setup for "everyday" and "all day". Any ideas as to why all of my dates in the log show Nov 27th only and only the initilization and access info shows when the router is first turned on. Under "log options" all items are checked. I do power my router off every night. Appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Set the NTP server to time.nist.gov and uncheck DST check mark. Set your time zone. Reboot the router and it should pick up the correct time.

Sorry for the poor communication on my end. The router is getting the time just fine. It is just that my log files only show a date of Nov 27th when they are sent to me via the schedule. If I manually force the email to be sent they show the current date for the logs but the log does start with a Nov 27th date.

Can you set the logs to be sent you you when they are full instead of a scheduled time? I'm curious if this also results in the same date being used.

Can you copy and paste a small portion of the logs that get emailed to you here? Both the ones that get sent and the manual force ones so we can see the differences?

It should be noted that I power off my router every night. I will leave it on for the next few days to see if the scheduled logs have a different date besides Nov 27th. If it's ok with you FurryNutz after that I will change the settings in the logs to send when full as you suggested.

Theres no need to power off the router every night, this is probably interfering with the time and logs that the router is capturing and trying to send to you. Let us know how it goes while leaving the router powered on for a few days.

That was it FurryNutz. I have left the router on now for 48hrs and have received the router logs for the last 2 days with the current date and time. Guess this might be good information for some of the other users here that do keep track of their router logs like i do. Thanks for your assistance.

FYI, you can leave the router on all the time. There designed for this. Glad it's working now. Enjoy.
