Hi All,

I found that whenever I transfer files from my desktop (100mb nic) via linksys wrt54gs to my dns-320 , the share drive would randomly disconnect and reconnect itself and I will have  to restart my copy job again , very annoying..., anyone has any idea  why ? and if there are settings that i need to tweak ?

I only have one WD 2TB drive in the box in standard setting.

Thanks in advance !

Hi,
I'm not sure what version of firmware you are using or if you are using a wired / wireless connection on your computer, but one of the first things to check I check with any unusual network problems is to double check to see that the network computers and devices are all using the same network name.  If not, change it.  Other things to check, use a different ethernet cable and port on your router.  Is the transfer problem only to the 320 or also from the 320?  Does the problem occur at a specific time or amount of data?  That's about all I can think of right now.  Good luck

My suggestions:
- Assigned an static IP to the NAS
- If you still have issues, see if you can connect them directly bypassing the router. If that works, there might be issues with router.

Other things you might check if basic troubleshooting does not work; nic drivers, router OS upgrade

Also search this forum, I've been this topic often.
