What is up with the price of the DGL-4500???
« on: February 02, 2012, 10:54:06 AM »

Welll I googled the price of the DGL-4500 and every webiste had it listed for close to $200!  Only one I saw was sub $100!
What is the reason for the price spike?

Might be due to that it's not made anymore and due to it's popularity for being a good gaming router that it's reputation is being upheld and thus sellers are trying to use that to keep the price high.

I think it's still a great router however there are other models that can compete and do just as good as the 4500 now and do offer a bit more in features for a lower price. The 4500 is still worth some cost, just don't think $200 is viable anymore considering what else is out there. I'm glad I have a spare 4500 though.  ;D

Stinking capitalism!!!! :o

What is a good gaming router for less than $100? A guy I know is thinking about buying the DIR-615, good or bad idea?  He will be connected wireless.

If you can't find a 4500, I recommend the DIR-825. The 615 is ok for a home router however it's doesn't have the QoS options needed to customize it like higher model DIRs or the 4500. So if he has more than one game console or PC that play games online, the 615 can't be configured to manage them well for QoS.

Have you looked at Amazon for fleabay for 4500s?
ebay
DIR-825 still new and available.
He he gets a 825, try to get a REv B model. Rev As don't and wont support IPv6.
Rev A1 or A2 for the 4500 works.
