DGL-4500 PC online game lag!!!!
« on: February 09, 2012, 03:45:34 PM »

hi recently purchased the DG-4500 on ebay.

when i first set it up it worked great with games and online surfing.
but i was going to test the gamefuel, so i was playing battlefiled 3 with utorrent on at the same time.

it was laggy, so i turned it off, however my computer crashed and needed to be reset.
when it restarted, every thing online was slow and bad. couldnt browse the net at all.

after a while playing with the settings (reseting back to factory settings , changing firmware ect...)

i got it back to normal. however, when i play battlefiled 3 online its laggy!!!
i have played with the settings but cant get it fixed ???

can someone please help

Is gaming on PC or console?
Review the Gaming and Gamefuel sticky for XBL or PSN?
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall if you have this option.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer.

I recommend not torrenting while gaming. Both those applications are bandwidth intensive. If you need to, then I would torrent on a different PC and put that in the gamefule rule and put a lowered priority on it like 200 and put the gaming PC at a higer priority, like 1.
