Disk overload ?
« on: February 25, 2012, 03:25:02 AM »

Hi Everybody

Tried searching for this problem but few results came back so i have to ask..

I just bought the 325, and i have the DIR-655 router to handle the network. With the Dlink it followed a Hitachi 1TB hd, and i had seagate hd from my Netgear Stora MS200 that i also put in there.

I am not running raid 1.

The problems I am having after i changed from stora to 325 is my downloads when going thru the torrent protocol.

Everytime i start a download to the 325 i get Disk overload 100% instant and all downloads go down.
I have googled the hell out of this problem, but nothing works.

I use a laptop on WIFI, and i've tried different torrent clients, with no luck.

It seems like the hardrives in the NAS cant keep up with the downloads. Downloading to the computer works just fine. Is it perheps that i am on wifi? i'm gonna try cable later today.

I've tried downloading to both hardrives, both old and new. Same result, and the old seagate worked just fine in Stora. So i am assuming its the dlink thats the problem?

Anybody else had this problem? its driving me nuts.. Have to return the dlink if this cant be fixed..

I seriously doubt that your NAS drives can't keep up with the incoming data. I think it's more likely that you haven't limited the upload bandwith with the NAS torrent client. Too much upload and the link gets saturated and downloads suffer.

Go to the NAS torrent settings and limit the upload to 80% of your upload link speed. If this resolves the issue, you can try tuning up the figure to higher.
I have 10/1Mbit ADSL and I have limited my uploads to 90kb/sec, all works just fine.

Earlier I said downloading to my pc went fine but now it also gets Disk Overload, so I'm beginning to think its the computers fault somewhere. Have googled this too with little information. Sorry I didnt mention before but i use utorrent, not the torrent app in the NAS. I have unlimited download and upload, and I'm on 25/25Mbit.

Disk overload happends shortly after torrent starts, and more then 1 torrent downloading it will cut all speed.

No difference when using cable or wifi.

The stupid thing is that this problem happend right after i changed the NAS.
