No internet access with ItalkBB
« on: February 18, 2012, 04:00:34 PM »

Ok so basically I just got my Linksys SPA2102 from ItalkBB, and my issue is that when I hook up everything (modem, phone adapter, router) and then try and connect, I get no internet access. Plz help!
I've followed the instructions, everything works properly (i think) except for my internet. On the router, the symbol that represents internet is blinking orange...I don't know what that means.

P.s. Im at a friends house, thats how I could make this. I'm also new to all this, so I need basic instructions.

Thx!

How do you have all this connected? Preferred method of connecting the all these devices follows:
ISP modem>655 router><Phone adapter and all other wired and wireless devices to the 655 router.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

What do you mean by "how do you have all this connected". All I did was follow the intructions.
Intructions say:

Power off your cable or DSL modem, and router, if you have one.

Connect the provided Ethernet cable into the port labeled "Internet" on the phone adaptor and connect the other end to the LAN port of modem.

Connect your phone cable into the "Phone 1" port of the phone adaptor (not "Phone 2").

Connect "Ethernet" port on the phone adaptor with your home PC's LAN port, or home router's WAN (Internet) port. Power on your cable or DSL modem first. Wait for 3 minutes.

Power on the phone adaptor and/or router. If you are DSL customer and need login to access your internet, go to 7

If you are not a DSL user who needs to set password for your router, after the phone adaptor is connected, it should be ready when the "Phone 1" light in front of the phone adaptor is on. You should hear a dial tone when you pick up your phone set.

Special settings for DSL Customers who need Login to access Internet:

Connect PC to the "ETHERNET" port on the phone adaptor. Reboot PC.

Log into the phone adapter by opening an Internet browser, typing http://192.168.7.1:1980 in the address line then hit Enter on your keyboard, enter user as user name and 1234 as password and click Login.
Under WAN Setup tab, select PPPoE in Connection Type under Internet Connection Settings area of the web page Enter the user name and password provided by your internet service provider in the PPPoE Login Name and Login Password fields (this is your Internet login).

Select the Submit All Changes button to save the settings.

So ya, I only have 3 things connected.

And to answer your questions, I have a DSL ISP serivce from a company called Acanac, I have the SpeedStream 4100 for my modem, It's a stand alone (I think...theres no built in router), The modem is made from SIEMENS, The part number (model number?) is 060-D141-A21

Try putting the phone adapter ip address into the routers DMZ.

Might try to see if it's listed in the Dynamic Clients list under Setup/Networking or under Status/Lan Computers.

Also might try to see if there is a IP address listed anywhere on the adapter as well. Sometimes you might find networking status or something listing an IP address...  ;)
