Infinite loop of formatting
« on: February 20, 2012, 04:41:37 PM »

I have a DNS-320. I have updated the firmware, installed two drives, formatted them both, and everything was fine. Moved a ton of data over to them. No problem.

I log in today to turn on the itunes server and I get flagged to finish Step 6 of formatting. Ok, no problem. Then it kicks me back to step 1, and wants to reformat my drives again. After I moved all my data to them.

On top of this, it will not let me turn on the itunes or some of the other features. Says "None Hard Drives."

I do not understand what is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really do not want to reformat the drives nor do I want to copy all the information back to my computer and reset the whole share folders.

Try doing a reset to factory default via NAS webUI or reset button.

What do the HD lights show - blue, or some other colour?

Have you powered down the unit and disconnected the power supply for a few minutes then restarted the unit?

What did you format the drives as - RAID 0, RAID 1, etc.?

Answers to those questions would help us possibly pinpoint the problem.

I just bought a DNS-320 and it is doing the same thing with infinite loop of formatting, upon logging into the webUI it defaults to Hard Drives, and pops up with Step 6 Completed. All my lights are solid, except power was blinking for a short time and now all have stayed solid.

Please help.

Pull one disk and see if it finishes then pop the other back in.
