problem upgrading to 2.03!!! Please Help!
« on: January 28, 2012, 10:25:37 PM »

I just bought the Dir-655 with 2.00 firmware. I am having trouble with my NAT on my game system and I have tried everything but I have everything setup on my router where it needs to be. I read somewhere, where a guy was having my same trouble and he upgraded his firmware to 2.03na. I have tried with no success whatsoever.

Downloading the file from the d-link website with no problems. But i keep getting the same message when i try to upgrade the router saying the file may be corrupt, the router is to busy, or I am not logged in as an Admin. I am the only one using the internet and I am logged into my router as the admin. it wont even start uploading the firmware to my rouer.... if you guys have any suggestions please let me know..

Oh and i have even restored to factory settings and rebooted the router and still nothing!

Let see about a few things before trying to upgrade. I ran my 655 on v.2.00 for a long time before upgrading.
Possible there is something else:

What gaming do you do? PC or Console.
Review the Gaming, QoS and Gamefuel sticky in this forum.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall if you have this option.

Let us know, also review the firmware update sticky too for upgrading firmware.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer.

Make sure you unzip the file first before trying to upload it.

Have you reviewed the FW update sticky in this forum for doing updates?
I would let us help you out by letting us know why your updating first? Is there a problem with the router?
Whats going on. Start a new thread and we'll follow you there.

This may or may not pertain to the problem. I had a problem if I was connected to the router using https that I couldn't save the router config info or upload a firmware patch, I don't recall which. But when I connected using http it was fine. It's a shot in the dark.

Maybe you have an EU version of rev B1? Then you can not update with 2.03NA (North America). You get an error message: "the file may be corrupt, the router is to busy..."

Latest EU version to rev B1:
ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dir/dir-655/driver_software/
