Hi,
I'm having problems with my DIR-628. It's new, I just bought it in late 2011.
I have the latest firmware version (1.24NA) and my hardware version is A2.
The wireless connection randomly drops out, and resetting the router (unplugging the power, waiting 15 seconds, then plugging it back in) only fixes it about half of the time. Connecting to it using an ethernet cable works fine! Sometimes, it won't even show up on the list of available connections even though the router is (literally) right beside my laptop!
It isn't my laptop (Macbook pro) because it happens with my roommate's computer as well.
I am in a dorm room at university so there would be a lot of interference due to lots of wireless routers. So, because of this, I've tried all the channels with no luck...still got the random drop outs.
My wireless settings are as follows:
Transmit power: High (I've tried medium and low too, but no change.)
Beacon period: 20
WLan Partition: unchecked
WMM Enable: checked
Short GI: checked (unchecking this doesn't stop the dropouts)
Wi-Fi protection is on (WEP2, I believe)
Secure spot is on.
The UDP and the TCP Endpoint Filtering settings are both set at 'Endpoint Independent'. Changing them around didn't seem to help.
There is nothing currently set on port forwarding.
Band: 2.40 GHz
Enable Auto channel scan: checked
- Tried all the channels with no improvement.
Wireless Radio : Enabled
802.11 Mode : Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b
Channel Width : 40MHz
Channel : 6
Secondary Channel : 2
Wi-Fi Protected Setup : Enabled/Configured
Advanced DNS: disabled
I checked the logs and nothing appeared out of the ordinary; just the usual 'blocked UDP/TCP from connecting' messages...I'm assuming SecureSpot is ensuring my router isn't hacked into?
The internet is really bad this morning too (numerous dropouts, dial-up speed) although it might be the university's problem and not my router.
That's all I can think of. If you guys need anymore information, just let me know!
Thanks in advance!
