I haven't been able to search for an answer (Search isn't that advanced) and google.

How do I throttle bandwidth to a certain computer IP?

For an example, my brother is uploading something, and it's completely bogged down my internet whenever he does. I want to throttle his upload to a reasonable level.

I haven't found any settings on the router config.

There are 2 computers connected to this network and I'm using cable internet (Comcast).

THese routers don't have any bandwidth throttling abilities however you can use GameFuel for All PCs and assign a lower priority for that PC who seems to be bogging down other PCs while online.
There is a new gamefuel sticky over on the DGL-4500 forum regarding setting up Gamefuel and adding PCs.

Can anyone offer more specific help?  I have this same problem. 2 users on network and I am owner/admin who pays the bills.  I bought this router (4100 not 4500) for its gaming claims but am having an opposite result to better gaming bandwidth.

When roommate comes home, his computer sucks up all the bandwidth even with my gamefuel enabled. My pings to servers literally go from the 50's and 60's past the scale that the server registers them (locked at 1000 on one and for example on another with a higher cap, I see it going past 8000!!) when he begins surfing the web and/or skyping and/or streaming TV shows.  He does absolutely no gaming whatsoever, but takes all the bandwidth, surfing and watching with glee while my computer freezes into a slideshow.

It's not video lag or other hardware issues, I have 2 different computers (1 midrange with some older games, 1 brand new, this month top end boutique gaming machine) plugged into a hardline to the router at any given time depending on which game I'm playing.

If the firmware for this router is no longer being updated, is there any add on software one can use to limit bandwidth for one user on the network?

How do you have GameFuel enabled and set up? Just enabling GF doesn't fully make use of this feature.
Have you set up a GF rule for you and your roommates PC?
If not, You need to set up a GF rule for your PC and one for his.
Make yours a higher priority than his, say yours set to 1 and his test to 200.

Review the GF sticky for XBL as it has an example of GF rule settings for PCs.

I gathered XBL is xbox, but I don't see much pc information in that sticky.  I'm stunned that these routers designed originally for hardcore (computer) gamers do not even have specific PC info.

I see this line "SAE and FURRYNUTZ are PCs added to the rule for an example."  But there are no entry names of those in the game fuel rule image right above it, they are all labeled "xbox" and the entries that look like PC's below that (which do not have those names) are given 200 priority so those don't look like the settings I'd want to copy.

There wasn't any information on using GF period with I first got my 4500 man. I had to search the internet to find bits and pieces of how GF was set up.

As of the sticky and xbox, yes it's mainly for XBL and xbox consoles however if you look at how thats set up, the same thing can apply to any PC game or PC. Just substitute the XBL ports for what ever game ports you need to use for that particular game. Again, GF is for managing multiple PCs or game consoles and being all online at the same time. So if your gaming on 2 PCs and you have one or two others that are just surfing or doign email, GF just ensures that ALL gets bandwidth while your gaming PCs or consoles get most of the bandwidth depending on where you set the priority level.

If you only have on PC connected while gaming, I'd recommend using Gaming Applications feature of the 4100 and set up gaming ports there for a single PC or game console.

So in your case you are gaming on one PC and another PC is streaming and downloading and hogging some of the bandwidth. In this case, you should use GF and set up your PC for the ports you need for the game your using. Set yours at a priority 1. For the other PC thats seems to be hogging bandwidth, Set up that PC under it's own rule in GF, Local IP address> the IP address it's reserved assigned, from and to. Use Any for Protocol, Remote IP addressing 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255 and Priority 200. This should give you the most bandwidth while gaming or doing anything you need to, and then while the other PC is online, making sure that it's not interfering with your connection while still giving some bandwidth it that PC.
