Raid 1 configuration
« on: March 06, 2012, 10:17:41 AM »

I have a DNS-320 with 2x3TB Seagate Model ST3000DM001-9YN1 hard drives installed. Firmware has been upgraded to current version. On my network I have both Win7\32bit and Mac OS-X running. When I tried to configure the hard drives for Raid 1, using either "Disk Management" or "Setup Wizard" it allows me the option to choose "Raid 1" but when the process executes and completes the task it has formated the drives to2.68TB, each as separate volumes and as "Standard" individual drives, not as "Raid1" as a single volume. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,
This is a new one on me.  You might try pulling the drives out completely and removing any volumes and partitions on the drives in your Windows machine, Disk Manager, and then try to reinstall them both and start over from that point.  The 2.68 TB is probably all you are going to get if you are successful with the Raid 1.  Some folks think it is safer to do 2 Standard drives and then use the local backup function to copy one drive to the other.  You could do that even 2 or more times a day to keep the data pretty up to date.  Anyway, please post back with your results.  Good luck
