Windows security bypassed with Ubuntu
« on: March 08, 2012, 01:55:00 PM »

Hey all,

So I just bought this NAS and set it up on a new usergroup in my house. I share with others and I don't want them accessing my drive so I added a user (myself) with permissions. This now means that Windows 7 needs a user name and password to either connect to it as a folder in explorer or to see the contents in the network. Great, exactly what I want.

So then I use my ubunutu laptop just to test and if I go to explore network, I have full access to the drive and its contents without any prompt for user name, password or any sort of 'denied access' pop up!?

Anyone any idea how I can fix this? Is the network permissions only for windows users?

Thanks
