Minor bug - UK time zone
« on: May 19, 2011, 02:41:27 AM »

Hi there,

Just reporting what seems to be a minor bug with the time zones - i'm from the UK, and if I set the time zone to GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) the time appears to be correct, however when the system is restarted for any reason it always moves the clock ahead by one hour.

This happens no matter what I use as the NTP server as well.

If you go and re-save the time zone settings the time is correctly reapplied again, until the system is restarted.

As a workaround, I changed my time zone to GMT (Casablanca, Monrovia) and after reboot the time stays correct. Perhaps the bug is related to UK Daylight Savings Time.

It's not an important bug at all, but I thought I might as well raise them as I find them in case it helps the support engineers with any patching.

Cheers

I think that the problem is from daylight savings time. I have the same problem.

HI,

Is great with solve this problem in the next firm... I have the same minor bug but with GMT+1 Time Zone (Spain).  But I use the ntp server "hora.roa.es" (stratum-1 server for Spain).

Best Regards...

I can confirm that this issue is still a problem for GMT-05:00 Eastern Time zone (USA & Canada).  I am running the following version of the firmware which is the latest that I can find:

Current Firmware Version    2.02
Firmware Date    09/23/2011

I am not the only person I know with a DNS-320 that has this issue.  If you set the NTP server to: ntp0.cornell.edu (or anything really) and then choose GMT-05:00 Eastern Time zone (USA & Canada) it will currently be off by -01:00 hours.  It looks like the "new" (since 2007 so 5 years) date range is not being respected.

Could anyone comment on when this might be fixed for Eastern Time zone.  It looks like this was fixed for UK time zones ... I'm not sure why all time zones weren't updated at this time.
