night vision not working?
« on: March 28, 2012, 07:50:49 PM »

Just set up 2 dcs-942 cams, and both were working fine. Now for some reason, the ir on one is not working, or very dim.  This is in complete darkness, and its not seeing anything beyond 3ft.  I've tried unplugging it, but didn't help. I haven't tried a hard reset yet, but may have to.  Btw, no difference even if I force dark mode.  Any ideas?

From what you describe the IR illuminator is working to some degree and is not completely off, which leads me to think that your DCS-942L may have a hardware defect.  If the daytime mode works fine, indicating the camera itself is functioning properly, you may want to call D-Link technical support and initiate the RMA process to obtain a replacement unit.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking.  The IR LED's are very bright, looking at them thru a digital camera.  Is there a filter that slides into and out of place when the mode switches?

The IR illuminators power on/off when the camera switches modes.
